Rita’s artistic practice centers on the transformative potential of paint to capture her emotions and surroundings through abstract compositions.

Her work is guided by the act of mark-making, which allows the exploration of colour and form, while playing into the concepts of accumulation and fragmentation.

Painting is what allows her to be present, to express feelings and ideas that are otherwise difficult to articulate. Emotion and intuition are central to the creative process, with color serving as a dialogue between accident and intention, blending expectation with surprise. Through layering, adding, and subtracting, the aim is to create immersive compositions that invite an emotional connection, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own perceptions and memories.

Throughout her practice, there is a continuous challenge to embrace the unknown, balancing fear and excitement to push the boundaries of her work.
